Reconstruction of a Proto-Salish morpheme for 'irrealis' may appear simple and obvious; however, such a reconstruction depends on what subset of languages is used as the basis for reconstruction. The proposed reconstruction offered here is *qa-ɬ. Reasons why an initial k might be considered are also explored, as is the question of whether or not Proto-Salish 'irrealis' may have been bimorphemic.
