Vancouver Exposed: A History in Photographs

Library Item

The storied history of Vancouver, from its roots as a logging community to its dazzling present, represents the journey of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. When Sir James Douglas declared the mainland British Territory in 1858 and Colonel Richard Moody began laying out its roads, the framework for a city nestled between the mountains and the sea was formed.

Vancouver's tale sparkles with remarkable people who shaped the face of the city. As a young settlement, the city opened its arms to the world. Hardworking immigrants worked with the bounty of the land and vast natural resources to build a city that today mirrors their diversity. Many cultures and traditions have blended with First Nations to craft the fabric of a unique and beautiful home. The diversity of the buildings, parks, public art and landmarks reflect the evolution from early settlement to today's vibrant community. I hope you enjoy your journey through Vancouver as you enjoy these incredible photographs.
