Squamish Occupancy of Burrard Inlet and False Creek

This report is written in response to a February 1996 request made to Randy Bouchard of the B.C. Indian Language Project by Harry Slade of Ratcliff and Company, Counsel for the Squamish Nation (Squamish Indian Band). Mr. Slade requested an opinion on specific issues raised by the Mathias litigation. In order to express these conclusions, it has been necessary to conduct a review of the relevant and available ethnographic, ethnohistoric and linguistic source materials. The materials reviewed have included the Squamish studies undertaken by the present writer over the past 25 years.
